John has a distinguished 40 year career with state and local governments, private and nonprofit companies throughout the country. After retiring as Minnetonka’s respected city manager, he was elected Three Rivers Park Board Chair. John was previously Minnesota’s finance commissioner in the Carlson administration, and was the first finance director for the City of Minneapolis. He was a partner with the largest economic consulting firm in the Rocky Mountains, where he was responsible for more than 200 sponsored research projects. He ran Minnesota’s original and largest Internet company, was an executive with Minnesota Public Radio and was the economist for the Denver Regional Council of Governments. John has taught at several universities, and has degrees in finance and economics from the U.S. Air Force Academy, UCLA and University of Colorado. He has received numerous national and regional awards, and has authored more than 100 articles, books and essays.
